ADVERTISING EXPERIENCE

  • Ten years of experience helping advertisers build marketing plans, implement qualitative research to define and reach their target customer, recommend spot schedules and help develop creative campaigns.
  • Acted as a quasi-advertising agency while working at the television station by helping advertiser’s with all aspects of their media and placement. Helped develop tracking devises for measuring advertising success as well.
  • Sold advertising at 3 radio stations. Worked mostly on developing new business accounts.
  • Sold advertising for WTVT-TV (CBS now FOX) in Tampa for four years. Joined the station as a new business specialist. Eventually became the top Account Executive on the staff. Had one of the largest account list (handling $6 million in ad revenue annually) and consistently led staff in new business account development. Eventually handled all national advertising that went direct to the station and was designated backup to all managers.
  • Handled three of the station’s top ten advertisers as well as the top local advertising agency in Tampa.
  • Was named Account Executive of the year in 1993.
  • In 1996 the company that owned WTVT started their own national advertising rep firm. Was the first Account Executive brought in to the new national rep firm and the only person selected from the twelve television stations in the group.
  • While at the rep firm I called on major advertising agencies in Atlanta and handled all business out of the state of Florida for the twelve stations in the group.
  • Was one of only a few A.E.’s to be named “station specialist”. I worked as a liaison between one of the television stations and the rep firm. This involved working with the television station to set advertising rates and advising both sides of market and station conditions. Also created estimates and rationale for program rating delivery that was used for selling advertising.
  • Worked directly with the president of the rep firm to develop and implement local market promotions that could be sold to national advertisers.

MARKETING RESEARCH:

  • Worked as a Vice President for Marshall Marketing & Communications, Inc (MM&C). MM&C is a marketing research company that works with television stations on an exclusive basis in over sixty markets to increase advertising revenue through research.
  • Created a new division and product, called MARKATREND, for MM&C in 1997 to compliment it’s primary research product. This new division is designed for markets not currently served by MM&C and is available to all media and advertisers in a market on a non-exclusive basis.
  • Handled all aspects of design, implementation, marketing, sales, service and management of MARKATREND. This involves working with media companies and advertisers to help them define and reach their targeted customer by developing and utilizing marketing research.
  • The product has been successfully launched and sold in five markets to date.

MARKETING RELATED SOFTWARE AND THE INTERNET

  • Created concept and design for advertising software to help television stations and advertisers utilize and evaluate Nielsen television ratings and qualitative research.
  • Worked with a team of computer programmers to build the software application.
  • Marshall Marketing & Communications purchased the qualitative portion of the software. Worked with Marshall Marketing & Communications and a software consulting company on development of the software. The software product is currently being used by MM&C customers in over 60 markets.
  • Experience in web site design and marketing. I have done some consulting with television stations on using the Internet to develop advertising revenue.
